Best vintage stores in Liverpool to pick up a preloved bargain

With so many shops in the city centre, it can be hard to know where to start.

To make shopping easier for vintage-lovers, we’ve created a list of our top picks of the best vintage spots around the city centre. Liverpool has a variety of shops to suit a wide range of styles, from band t-shirts, to denim and 60s dresses, they’ve got you covered.

The Vintage Store, Church Street

With its name as the UK’s largest retailer of vintage clothing, this shop holds all of the big brand names, including an exclusive Levi’s section. It stocks everything from denim jackets, to sweaters and t-shirts. For the trendiest of vintage clothes, this shop is the place to be.

The Vintage Store also has bases in Sheffield, Hull, Newcastle, Hull, and Birmingham

69A, Renshaw Street

This store has almost anything a vintage-lover could want when it comes to finding the perfect piece. 69A began selling vintage clothes in 1976 and has since established itself as one of the best spots in town.

A proud local business, this vintage store is a favourite with the locals and is home to clothes and everything in between, from trinkets to teapots, you will not be disappointed here.

The shop does not do online sales, so it is definitely worth the trip to Renshaw Street.

The Retro Room, Lark Lane

The Retro Room , with its bright and quirky decor, offers a variety of sustainable clothing and accessories that are bound to add a splash of colour to shoppers' collections.

The shop's owner, Kate, began her business selling her clothes online to support herself after taking time off work when diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. From there, she began attending vintage markets and eventually developed a passion for selling vintage clothing.

Cow Vintage, Bold Street

Cow is an independent vintage clothing and accessories retailer that prides itself on offering a sustainable alternative to fast fashion.

Their handpicked items are ethically sourced from around the world and available to shop at affordable prices. Their store offers a unique shopping experience, with custom interiors made from 90% recycled materials.

Through their online shop, We Are Cow , they offer a selection of customers' favourite vintage products alongside their rework range. The rework pieces are made from outdated vintage garments and salvaged fabrics, altered into trend-led styles so that nothing goes to waste and you won't see the same piece twice.

Esme Acid Drop, Cotton Street

Since establishing the company in 2018, Esme Acid Drop prides itself on having ‘affordable funky fresh vintage’ in both their Liverpool store on Cotton Street and their Etsy online shop . Their prices are kept “as low as possible” to make vintage shopping accessible to everyone.

The company’s founder, Esme, hand picks each item to make sure her customers are given nothing short of the best products. Each garment is delightfully unique and their quirky pieces are bound to bring some sunshine to anyone’s wardrobe.

Total Recall Vintage, Seel Street

Open since 2009, Total Recall is an independent shop that offers a wide range of vintage clothing and accessories for men and women. Their stock ranges from the 1950s to the 1990s, from biker jackets to dresses, there is something for everyone.

They regularly take in new additions at great prices, so the store is more than worth a visit.

Pop Boutique, Bold Street

As one of Liverpool’s most established names in the vintage circle, shoppers are bound to be impressed by its exclusive range of clothing. This store offers a wide range of styles for both men and women, as well as an additional range of shoes and accessories from a mixture of vintage brands and their own.

Managing director of Pop Boutique , Richard Free began selling vintage clothes in 1983 and since then the shop has only gotten better. During the 90s, Mr Free was approached by the high street retailer, Topshop, to put pieces on display in their Oxford Circus shop.

Now, Pop Boutique has an online store and bases in Liverpool, London, Leeds, Manchester, and Gothenburg in Sweden.

Soho’s Liverpool, Bold Street

Soho’s specialise in selling unique streetwear clothing and accessories from mainly the 1960s and 1980s era. They are bound to have something for everyone, with an extensive range for both men’s and women’s vintage clothing.

They stock their own designs as well as well-known brands such as Levi’s and Criminal Damage.
