Best vegan Easter eggs for 2022 from Selfridges, Hotel Chocolat and more

Easter Sunday this year is on April 1 and the race is on to find the best chocolate egg.

In years past, anyone following a plant based lifestyle or had diary-related dietary requirements would not relish the treats associated with Easter. A lactose-filled holiday, the selection of free-from eggs were lacklustre to say the least.

But that is no longer the case. With the ever-growing demand for vegan chocolate alternatives, the whole sub-section has come on leaps and bounds. Hoppy days, chocolate lovers can get their annual fix with no-milk alternatives.

You no longer need to miss out on important yearly milestones like Easter as there are treats the whole family can enjoy – whether you are vegan or not. Indulge in the decadence of the holiday without fearing for intolerances with the biggest selection of plant-based and free-from Easter eggs to date.

There’s no egg-scuse not to sample these nut or plant-based chocolate delights with options that are dairy, gluten or wheat-free and do not sacrifice in the taste department. You really won’t know the difference.

They are adorned with pretty designs and creative flavour combinations that look as good as they taste.

Selfridges Selection Easter Vegan Oat Milk Easter Egg

Barely distinguishable from its milk-based alternatives, Selfridges has called on carbon-neutral chocolatiers Chocolarder to craft its Easter egg offering this year.

The brand makes each and every one in its Cornwall-based atelier with sustainability placed at the utmost important. The cocoa comes from the Gola Rainforest National Park in Sierra Leone that gives back to farmers and conservation projects. It then travels to the UK via sailing boat in order to minimise its carbon footprint.

The lactose-free, vegan and vegetarian offering combines the beans with creamy oat milk and sugar from a green harvest project in Brazil.

NOMO Cookie Dough Crunch Egg

If you’re following a plant-based diet and you’ve not yet been initiated with NOMO, prepare to have your mind blown. The brand specialises in innovative free-from chocolate that will make your vegan lifestyle easier than ever to follow.

For Easter, the Cookie Dough Egg has caught our attention as it breaks away from the typical vegan selection. It comes with a moulded bunny as well as the classic egg - both of which are made from the brand’s signature creamy chocolate combined with a cookie dough shell - you probably guessed that from the name though.

Making a grand return, the selection also includes four delicious eggs that you may or may not remember from 2021 - the beloved Caramel, Caramel and Sea Salt, Fruit and Crunch and Creamy Choc.
