Whether your journey is long haul or just a few hours, it can be tricky to get comfy and fall asleep on a flight.
After the anxiety of the airport and all the hassle packing up, sorting your travel documents and eventually getting on board, 40 winks are often needed. It becomes even more important if your on a late night or overnight flight as you try to get some rest before your holiday begins.
And there is one top tip to help you get some shut eye as you jet off on holiday. According to experts at Bed Kingdom, selecting particular seats can be the key to comfort and rest.
Where you choose to sit on a plane, whether you book in advance or fight over who sits where when getting on board, can determine how easy it is to drift off.
The experts suggest always option for a window seat as it provides a solid surface to lean. Whether you simply rest your head against the surface or place your pillow on it, the window seat can provide more comfort.
Additionally, siting at the window allows you to control the window share, giving you the option to create a darker environment to help you sleep.
However, it is of course not always possible to pick the seat you would prefer.
Do not fret, the experts have some advice for middle and aisle seats too.
For example, if you are sitting in the middle it is best to make sure all your belongings are stored in the overhead lockers to give you as much room as possible. The middle seat can be a little more challenging to get comfy in due to the limited space, but organising your bags can really help with legroom.
You should also take a travel neck pillow on board to give your head some support and up the comfort as you try to drift off while sat upright.
If you are on the end of the aisle, the experts suggest making sure to utilise the aisle armrest. Since you have easy access to the aisle, you can use the armrest to provide some additional support for your head and upper body as you try to get some shut eye.
