There are hundreds of places to stay within a few square miles in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. So where does one even begin? Well, if a full-service resort is what you’re after or  your family is looking for an active beach getaway, or if a couple is seeking a romantic getaway, there’s a resort in Myrtle Beach for you. Chosen for their luxurious accommodations, extensive amenities, and activities, or unique location, these properties showcase the diverse range of options in Myrtle Beach—all you have to do is decide which suits you best.

North Beach Plantation

The North Beach Plantation Resort is a Four Diamond Property with ocean views.

The North Beach Plantation Resort is considered the shining star of resorts in Myrtle Beach. Those seeking luxuriously appointed, detail-oriented room designs and decor should look no further than the oceanfront condos that range from one to four bedrooms. North Beach Plantation is 10 miles from downtown Myrtle Beach, appealing to those who want to stay put or explore other areas of the coast, like Atlantic and Crescent beaches. One-bedroom oceanfront condos start at $239/night during the summer.

Marriott Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes

The Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes is great for couples.

A $14 million renovation in 2017 has this Marriott Resort & Spa looking fresh, and you’ll get everything you’ve come to expect from the brand: pillow-top mattresses, marble bathrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, pristine landscaping and top-notch service to go along with its oceanview rooms. While it is accommodating to families, it lacks the outright kid-friendly flair of other resorts (i.e., no waterparks), making it a nice place for singles and couples. The resort is located 6 miles north of downtown Myrtle Beach, and those looking for a dose of nature should check out the nearby Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge.

Marina Inn at Grande Dunes

The Marina Inn has a unique location along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Located 10 miles south of downtown Myrtle Beach, The Marina Inn is the only non-oceanfront resort to make the list. Why? Because the property itself makes up for it. The luxury hotel is, as the name suggests, located in and around the marina, has big rooms with private balconies and fine touches, like Tommy Bahama toiletries, and offers unique views of the Intracoastal Waterway and its boating activities. There’s an air-conditioned shuttle to the beach (approximately a 10-minute drive), and the property is close to the Carolina Opry, the first live theater to open in Myrtle Beach. Because of its location away from the beach, the Marina Inn is perfect for singles, couples and families seeking a slower pace and more privacy.

Island Vista Oceanfront Resort

Island Vista Resort is five miles north of downtown Myrtle Beach.

Island Vista is popular with families because it offers a nice combination for parents and young ones, keeping kids busy with the oceanfront pool, a full schedule of activities and in-room pizza delivery (made on site) while pleasing parents looking for relaxation with an out-of-the-way beachfront location, spacious suites with full kitchens, spa and a poolside tiki bar. Located just north of Myrtle Beach proper, it’s close enough to downtown to head off property for dinner, and golfers like Island Vista for its proximity to Pine Lakes Country Club.

Dunes Village Resort

The location of Dunes Village Resort is just on the northern end of downtown Myrtle Beach, giving guests a little room to breathe but keeping them within striking distance of the action. Kids will love the indoor/outdoor oceanfront waterpark, while parents can usually be found at the poolside cabanas or the Lost in Serenity Spa.

Avista Resort North Myrtle Beach

Avista Resort in Myrtle Beach is popular for its golf packages.

The Avista Resort is located in North Myrtle Beach and has the makings of a place your family will never want to leave. All rooms are condo-style, with floor-to-ceiling windows, refrigerators, microwaves, ovens and extra appliances, and the property has three pools, two lazy rivers and beach access. It’s a great place for golfers thanks to their special golf packages that offer discounted rates at courses throughout Myrtle Beach.

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort

An oceanview room at the Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort in Myrtle Beach.

The appeal of Sea Crest is its location and the value for the price. It has the amenities of a larger, more remote property—including a water park and nine pools—but is just a short walk from downtown Myrtle Beach, giving flexibility to guests to explore outside the resort with ease. The Sea Crest is a more affordable option for those who plan to spend a good chunk of time off property, exploring the town on foot. That said, it provides everything you’d expect from a resort, including oceanview rooms, kids’ activities, and beachfront location.
