The Cincinnati Bengals surprised many on Monday night during a primetime clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars by coming out firing on offense.
The end result was a 34-31 win. But the Bengals showed serious signs of life with Jake Browning under center in place of the injured Joe Burrow, especially on one notable highlight touchdown to Ja’Marr Chase.
As such, with a primetime audience watching, there were many, many takeaways of note coming out of the game — especially considering the playoff standings and draft order standings.
Here’s a look at some of the best reactions coming from right after the game.
What a game by Zac Taylor, Jake Browning and this offense.

#Bengals QB Jake Browning can flat-out play. Came to Washington as a decorated recruit by breaking national high school records with 229 career passing TDs — including 92 as a senior!
Started all four years at UW and left as the winningest QB in Pac-12 history, not to mention… pic.twitter.com/2JChu7EbkW

WHAT CAN BROWNING DO FOR YOU!?
— Brandon Saho (@BrandonSaho) December 5, 2023
A night of validation for Jake Browning and the #Bengals steadfast belief in him.
Six wins. Six losses. Alive.
Colts, Vikings, @ Steelers on deck.

Jake Browning completed every one of his 7 pass attempts over 10 air yards on the night, the most downfield completions without an incompletion since Week 16, 2021.
🔸 Over 10 AY: 7/7, 170 yards, TD
🔸 Under 10 AY: 25/28, 184 yards, 2 drops#CINvsJAX | #RuleTheJungle pic.twitter.com/ijgexkczc3— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) December 5, 2023
Jake Browning fantastic work on the road against a really good AFC team. Awesome to see the support of Joe Burrow on the sideline the whole night.
— Lindsay Patterson (@LndsPatterson) December 5, 2023
Now we can be quiet (Al Michaels) about winning a road MNF game against a winning team. Or whatever it was.
All anti Bengals stats must fall.
So it is written.

And, as you might imagine, the party is quickly bumping in the #Bengals locker room.
Breaking the three-game losing streak that included the injury to Joe Burrow is offering a cathartic moment in there.
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) December 5, 2023
Draft position isn’t a huge concern. There are many players on this roster that can be key players moving forward / when Burrow returns.
Let them play and win.
— Blake Jewell (@BlakeJewellNFL) December 5, 2023
Jake Browning was impressive tonight. How many teams — see Jets — wished they had a guy like that?
— Pete Prisco (@PriscoCBS) December 5, 2023
That is just a huge culture and growth win from the coaches adjusting to their situation. I'm past hoping for high draft picks. Proving to these guys that they are more than Burrow is important.

And y'all wanted to tank?! This is way more fun!
