Best places to eat fish and chips in UK revealed as tiny village secures top spot

The iconic fish and chip dinner has become a staple favourite for many households across the UK.

Whether it's enjoyed in a restaurant, pub, or as a takeaway in the comfort of your own home, there's simply no beating it.

While people will tend to argue there's no surpassing their local fish and chip shop, the best place to eat the iconic meal in the UK has finally been unveiled.

Travel booking website Omio put an end to the long-awaited debate by revealing a tiny village as the hit top spot.

Enjoying a cod and chips - or whatever your preference - along the seafront is extremely idyllic, so it's no surprise that the seaside town of Plockton, Scotland, bagged the medal for post eatery in the UK.

Plocktown was found to be the 'most popular' location across the country for the classic British dish.

Situated on a sheltered bay with crystal-clear water, Plockton is known for its Highland atmosphere and spectacular settings.

The data was retrieved from TripAdvisor, which indicates where has the most chippies - alongside their level of popularity.

It's no surprise that several seaside towns bagged a space in the top 20 list, considering that plenty of fresh seafood and product can be retrieved daily.

Landing second place behind the little village of Plockton, in Scotland, the Cornish town St Ives came in second place.
