Parks are an essential part of Merseyside with stunning views, picturesque paths and Instagram-worthy lakes.

We’ve all got our favourites, go-tos and the one we went to growing up, but when you're headed to a new area that you don't know particularly well yet, TripAdvisor is a seriously helpful tool to have on hand.

Liverpool city centre

Name: Chavasse Park

Review: “Spent many a sunny Sunday chilling up here, during the summer you can be serenaded by live music from one of the bars.

“With the addition of ping pong tables and other activities you've got an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool One. Grab a snack, sit back and enjoy!”

Review: “We love this park - Great for the kids with loads to do. Small farm to walk around plus park and crazy golf! We always enjoy our time here!”

Review: “One of my favourite parks in Liverpool. Come here from time to time with my partner for walks.

“It's a nice quiet park and I love coming in the autumn when leaves are changing. It’s nice as it tends to be quieter than other parks. It’s tidy and well kept. The walled garden is also lovely.”

Southport

Name: Hesketh Park

Rating: 4.5

Review: “It is winter, so we wrapped up warm.There are daffodils and snowdrops already.

“A stroll around the lake, for us, included reading the plaques on the many well-placed benches.The fountains in the lake provided a nostalgic sound, in the background.

“Supervised children ran and climbed in the well-equipped, fenced-off play area.The crazy golf stood waiting for spring. The cosy cafe was open!

“We plan to return with grandchildren in the summer. Thank you, Southport!”

Crosby

Name: Waterloo Parks

Review: “A small selection of parks located in front of the stunning properties at Beach Lawn leading to Crosby Beach. Could do with a little work and updating with some nice flowering plants however a nice spot and peaceful.

“We enjoyed a walk around early one morning before a long drive home - a nice place to stretch your legs. Would be a nice escape to read a book as plenty of benches to sit on and quite empty. Covid restrictions have unfortunately left it a little unloved.”

Croxteth

Review: “This is such a beautiful place. I've been visiting here for over 25years and I still find new pathways and areas to enjoy.

“The staff are helpful, kind and friendly throughout the park and Hall. Great and Safe for young people, old people and families.”

Review: “Great local park. Perfect for dog walking or a lap of the lake with a pram or the children. We regularly come here for a stroll”.
