Even with the Flower Mound native dealing with a lingering foot injury from last season on top of the nerve issue in his neck near the end of the 2022-23 regular season, Marcus Smart has been playing some of the best basketball of his career this season with the Boston Celtics.
The onetime Oklahoma standout has been solid on defense as always, albeit admittedly a step slow due to said injury. He has averaged 11.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, a career-high 6.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game with the Celtics in this campaign.
Add another career high in effective field goal percentage as a result of Smart picking his spots much better than in the past, and the entire package has made for a significant part of his team’s contention-worthy season.
