Best Liverpool restaurants for Veganuary 2023

With January now in full swing, many people will now be taking on the challenge of Veganuary.

Having grown in popularity over recent years, Veganuary sees people make the decision to stop eating or using animal products during January. Alternatively, many people make the switch to a vegetarian lifestyle, or simply aim to introduce more meat-free meals into their diet.

Whether you have recently adopted a vegan diet, have always been plant-based or are simply keen to eat less meat, there's plenty of great restaurants for vegans and vegetarians in Liverpool. We've compiled a list of some of the best places to try during Veganuary.

Maray

Maray, which has branches on Bold Street and at the Royal Albert Dock, is running a special Green January promotion for Veganuary. The promotion runs all this month, and entitles diners to 50% off all vegetarian and vegan dishes from the main menu - excluding desserts - from Monday to Thursday.

No booking is required, although the restaurant does recommend it in order to avoid disappointment. The offer is valid for maximum table sizes of seven. A full list of terms and conditions can be found on the Maray website.

Down the Hatch

Located on Duke Street, Down the Hatch is a popular vegan and vegetarian restaurant. The venue is taking part in Veganuary with a new deal, offering two for one burgers all throughout January.

The deal is valid from Monday to Friday between 3pm and 9pm. The offer applies to burgers sold individually, as opposed to those which are part of a meal deal. The offer applies solely to burgers, and also includes gluten free options.

Gusto

The popular Italian restaurant chain has a selection of delicious dishes for those who want to go meat and dairy-free. Opt for a starter of warming rosemary focaccia bread before tucking into Gusto's vegan burger with homemade vegan mayonnaise. Diners can choose to end the meal with a slice of creamy Biscoff cheesecake.

Byron

Byron has launched a new Veganuary burger in partnership with Meatless Farm. Available now, the Mex-It-Up Vegan Burger features a Meatless Farm vegan chicken breast, smashed avocado, tangy pickled jalapeños, homemade chipotle ketchup, a special spiced vegan cheddar, crunchy shredded iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato. The burger is priced at £8.50, or can be made a meal with a side of fries and a drink for £12.50.

Pizza Punks

Bold Street based restaurant Pizza Punks has launched a selection of Veganuary specials including a classic vegan margherita, a vegan pepperoni, and a vegan salt and pepper chicken pizza. The restaurant offers diners more than 15 vegan toppings to choose from, allowing pizza lovers to create their own vegan masterpiece.

Sanskruti

Located on Bixteth Street, Sanskruti is a vegan and vegetarian Indian restaurant. Sanskruit serves authentic Indian cuisine with an extensive menu of beloved dishes to choose from, including street food and curries.

The restaurant is currently celebrating Veganuary by offering 20% off all food. To claim the offer, simply book a table online and mention 'VEGANUARY' in the comments section of the booking form. To find out more, visit the Sanskruti website.

Organico

Organico Juice Bar and Eatery can be found on Bold Street, and serves locally sourced vegan and vegetarian food. There's a selection of coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, juices, smoothies and cakes to choose from.

The Vibe Café

Located on Paradise Street, The Vibe is a plant-based café serving up breakfast, lunch, dinner and cakes. Diners can opt for a full vegan breakfast, or simply enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake.

Lunyalita

Lunyalita can be found at the Royal Albert Dock and boasts a dedicated vegan menu, meaning there's plenty of choice for those who want to enjoy a meat-free meal. The restaurant also offers a range of snacks, breads and olives and traditional vegetable paella or tapas options.

Fridays

American-inspired restaurant chain, Fridays, has updated its loyalty rewards scheme in time for Veganuary. Those opting for meat-free or dairy-free dishes can now earn loyalty points in the form of Stripes. Vegan options include plant-based chicken fajitas, loaded potato skins with plant-based cheese and bacon and vegan chocolate chip cookie with vegan vanilla ice cream.

Bill's

Bill's has added three new plant-based meals to its menu after joining forces with THIS™. Diners can enjoy the THIS™ Plant Plate, THIS™ Isn’t Bacon Mac & Cheese and the THIS™ Isn’t Chicken & Bacon Wellington.
