Boris Johnson’s resignation has triggered a flurry of hilarious memes on social media.
The Prime Minister announced on Thursday he was stepping down from his role following the backlash from the Chris Pincher fiasco and a new Tory leader is set to be in place by the party conference in October.
In the space of two days, 59 MPs - including Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak - resigned from positions in the Government claiming Mr Johnson should no longer stay on.
Mr Johnson said he had tried to persuade his Cabinet it would be “eccentric” to change Prime Minister now but “I regret not to have been successful in those arguments”.
With the Prime Minister resigning under three years on from winning an 80-seat majority, the internet responded in the only way it knows how to.
