To help you find somewhere to stay we’ve listed some of the best hotels in Manchester, as well as some new openings which are on the cards for 2023.
Hotel Gotham
Hotel Gotham occupies one of the most striking buildings in Manchester; a huge Art Deco monolith which dominates King Street. Step inside and the chic interior is just as impressive at this luxury five star hotel.
In 2022 it was named the Best Luxury City Centre Hotel for the whole of North Europe at the World Luxury Awards - and it's easy to see why. It features 60 individually-designed bedrooms, starting from around £160 a night for a standard room and up to £1,000 for the most luxurious suites.
Robbie Williams, Simon Cowell and Jennifer Hudson have all stayed at this glamourous hotel. It's housed in a former Midland Bank building and the décor plays on the theme. On the top floor is a private members bar, while a new speakeasy style club opened up in the former bank vaults hidden beneath the hotel.
Leven Manchester
Housed in a former cotton warehouse, Hotel Leven has a modern, industrial feel to it - think exposed brick walls and contemporary furnishings. An aparthotel located just a short walk from Piccadilly, it’s ideal for those planning a city break and want to be in the heart of the city.
The New York-style hotel was the only one in the city to feature on The Sunday Times’ list of the “100 Best Places to Stay” in the UK in 2023. It praised the hotel for its “prime position” and “industrial design”.
Room rates start from £89 a night, while on the top floor are impressive penthouses with breathtaking views across Canal Street - these start from £299 a night. The hotel even has its own gift shop where you can buy Leven-branded merchandise.
Motel One - St Peter's Square
If you’re after incredible views then Motel One in St Peter’s Square - the brand’s latest edition to Manchester - might have just what you’re looking for. Rooms on the western side of the building overlook the iconic Central Library and the rear of the town hall.
Motel One is based in the first eight floors of the new hotel building, while floors 9 to 20 are occupied by aparthotel Wilde. Rooms in Motel One start from just £75 a night, making it the more budget option out of the two, while one-bed apartments in Wilde start from £125.
Inside Motel One you’ll find sleek, modern rooms with everything you could need for a city break. The hotel’s excellent sound-proofing means you won’t hear any of the hustle and bustle of its city-centre location.
King Street Townhouse
A “hidden gem” in the city, King Street Townhouse is a boutique hotel which is known for its infinity rooftop pool which overlooks the town hall. It’s based inside a 140-year-old historic building and features lots of luxury touches.
Last summer a new spa and gym opened up at King Street Townhouse, in the basement of a historic Grade-II listed Italian Renaissance building adjacent to the hotel on Booth Street. It’s an indulgent wellness space with a Himalayan salt cave, spa treatments and a Eucalyptus steam room among the experiences on offer.
The hotel itself features a range of rooms, from spacious suites with freestanding baths, to cosy doubles.
Coming soon…
There are several highly-anticipated hotel openings expected in Manchester in 2023. Soho House is tipped to open at the Old Granada Studios with Mollie’s Motel and Diner also launching at the site.
Treehouse Hotel is set to open on the corner of Blackfriars Street and Deansgate at the former site of Manchester’s Renaissance Hotel, with the 14-storey tower being completely redeveloped. Luxury hotel Forty Seven will be opening its doors on Peter Street, after the launch of Asha’s restaurant and Peterman bar launched this year.
