A headteacher who was once believed to the best in the UK has been suspended and is under investigation.
Karen Hutchings was famed for 'turning around' schools in decline and had an excellent reputation within education. In 2016 she was awarded " Headteacher of the Year " in the renowned Times Educational Supplement (TES) awards for her work at Sail Academy Trust in Liverpool, reports the Mirror.
Then editor of TES, Ann Morz, said: "Karen Hutchings is a shining example of a headteacher who epitomises inspirational leadership."
But Mrs Hutchings is now under investigation at the Sail Academy, according to the Liverpool Echo.
A spokesperson for SAIL Academy Trust added: "As a Trust, we can confirm that the head of New Park Primary School has been suspended pending an on-going investigation. The Trust has addressed any issues quickly and has followed all its policies and procedures. We have no further comment at this stage.'"
Last year Hutchings £150,000 plus a year salary was subject to a row between the academy and union bosses.
The unions GMB, NASUWT, NEU and UNISON accused Sail Academy Trust of denying staff "proper pay and conditions" at New Park Primary and its other school, Roscoe Primary School.
A statement said: "These salaries are far in excess of the largest salaries that are permissible in the National Pay and Conditions of service for teachers for schools of the size of New Park and Roscoe."
It is understood deputy head teacher Kelly Ann Poulson has been appointed acting head teacher while the investigation takes place.
