'Best - Harvey Elliott makes Jurgen Klopp Liverpool admission and Mohamed Salah claim

Harvey Elliott has likened Jurgen Klopp to a father figure and hailed the brilliance of Mohamed Salah in an insightful interview.

The 18-year-old, who broke into the Liverpool first team at the start of the season before his progress was held up by a serious injury, answered a range of questions for a New Balance series called 'Assumptions' on the YouTube channel UMM.

Speaking to presenter Specs Gonzales, Elliott explained what Reds manager Klopp meant to him and what it was like to fulfil his dream to play for Liverpool.

When asked if Klopp's bear hugs hurt, Elliot said: "No, no! The warmth that he brings - it's a joke. He is (a father figure). You see it a lot, how he is with players, his players and how he interacts with the fans. He's the best possible man for the job, I can say, and the best possible person to be learning off."

The young Liverpool star gave responses to a string of 'assumptions' put to him by Gonzales, including, 'you love playing with Mo Salah'. Elliott said: "Who wouldn't love playing with Mo Salah? In my opinion he's the best in the world. Alongside Trent (Alexander-Arnold) on that right side - it's a dream for any youngster."

After admitting that he would never even attempt to beat Sadio Mane in a race, Elliott revealed that since returning from injury he has been working to increase his pace, pointing out that almost every player in the Premier League is 'rapid'.

But if the former Fulham prospect believes that Salah is the best player on the planet, an assumption that Paris Saint-Germain stat Neymar Jnr. used to be his idol was confirmed.

Elliott said: "That is very true. I've been watching the documentary (about him) that's been out recently, to see the background of where he's come from and how he's got to where he is today. It's very inspirational and personally think he's a great player and one of the best to ever play the game."

Having earned himself starts under Klopp at the beginning of the Premier League season, Elliot spent almost five months out with a serious ankle injury and described what it was like going through his rehabilitation.

He said: "Sometimes it was hard, when you think about it too much. All my family and friends were around me. They got me through it. You just need to set little goals and targets. Once you hit them you're flying."

When asked if he was coming back better than ever, without hesitation he added: "True! You've got to, yeah?"

Elliot has made 10 appearance for Liverpool this season, scoring one goal. He also scored in the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out against Chelsea, helping Liverpool to lift the trophy and earn his first major honour with the club.
