After the fourth full slate of regular season action, the NFL and fantasy football are back in full swing.
If you had a tough injury in Week 4, you just didn’t get the production from one of your players that you expected or you have a player on bye, we’ll scan the waiver wire. For potential pickups, we’ll consider players who are available in at least 50% of ESPN fantasy leagues.
Buy Dolphins TicketsLet’s take a look at some of the potential waiver wire pickups that could help your teams heading into Week 5 of the NFL campaign.
Sam Howell, QB, Washington Commanders (8.9%)
Outside of a poor Week 3 performance against Buffalo (0.6 fantasy points), Howell has been a decent sleeper option this year.
With bye weeks starting and a few quarterbacks dealing with injuries, Howell’s Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears, who are allowing the second-most points to opposing quarterbacks, should make him an interesting streaming option.
Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens (45.6%)
Since J.K. Dobbins went down with a torn Achilles in Week 1, Baltimore has gone back to more of a committee again, but Edwards is the lead back of the group.
He’s gotten more touches each week, culminating in 17 against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.
Edwards might not have bust potential, but he could be a solid flex option going forward.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers (33.9%)
Despite the Packers getting Christian Watson back last week, Doubs still proved to be Jordan Love’s go-to guy, recording nine receptions for 95 yards.
He’s averaged 12.6 points per game this year, and that number shouldn’t be dropping off too much even if Watson emerges as he gets healthier.
Jake Ferguson, TE, Dallas Cowboys (24.5%)
Ferguson was our recommendation last week, and he rewarded his fantasy owners with his best performance of the season (seven receptions, 77 yards and 11.2 fantasy points).
Whether it was Dalton Schultz or Jason Witten, the Cowboys have had a reliable fantasy tight end, and Ferguson looks like the next in line.
Lions, D/ST (8.6%)
Dan Campbell’s defense has had three solid fantasy performances, with the lone outlier being in Week 2 when they got -1 point against the Seattle Seahawks.
Still, they’re the ninth-best unit in fantasy, and they’re going against a Carolina Panthers’ offense in Week 5 that hasn’t done much this year.
