Best family parks and walks in Stockport

There's plenty to do in and around Stockport for you and the family to enjoy.

We've compiled some of the best parks and nature walks across the borough which can provide some much-needed peace and quiet.

Most of the locations on this list aren't too far from the city centre so you won't have to take too much time out of your day to visit and relax.

Whether you want to explore nature on your own or want to get the whole family involved for a little adventure, one of the parks or walks on this list will cater to your needs.

Here's a breakdown of the best parks and nature walks in Stockport.

Etherow Country Park

Situated on the edge of Compstall, Etherow Park offers a beautiful lake and plenty of greenery to enjoy on a peaceful walk.

But the highlight of Etherow Park is its waterfall at the end of the walk that flows into the River Etherow spanning across the whole park.

The park also offers plenty of leisure activities such as its very own sailing club with its own boatyard as well a cafeteria to enjoy some coffee or lunch.

Etherow Country Park is situated at Compstall, between Marple and Romiley, SK6 5JD.

Reddish Vale Country Park

Reddish Vale Country park is a fairly large park that spans 161 hectares along the River Tame at the centre of Stockport.

The green space allows for visitors to go on walks or cycle along the Goyt, Etherow, Saddleworth and Longedale trails.

The nearby river also allows visitors to go fishing as long as they have a Stockport and District Anglers Federation Card and Rod licence.

Reddish Vale Country Park is located on Mill Lane, SK5 7HE.

Bramall Hall

Bramall Hall has a large park for visitors to enjoy (STE)

Bramall Hall is a large Tudor Manor House with its own park to accompany it.

With a long and rich history, the Hall's park offers a great opportunity to go on a woodland walk while catching glimpses of the hall itself.

Those who want a spot of lunch to go with their nature-filled walk can visit the Stable Kitchen situated in the hall which provides lunch, cake and ice cream.

Alexandra Park

Alexandra Park has plenty of activities on offer (Manchester Evening News)

Alexandra Park is a nice little hideaway spot away from the town centre situated in Edgeley.

Despite being a popular spot for anglers and fishers, the park has plenty of other activities for visitors to enjoy, including a tennis court and bowling greens.

The park also provides dedicated areas for relaxation so you can take a rest and breathe in the fresh air throughout your walk.
