Best Dyson Airwap dupes: Affordable alternatives to curl and style

A brand syonymous with innovative technology, Dyson has infiltrated our homes and beauty practices, turning everyday tasks into luxurious rituals.

From its vacuums to the hair tools, with each new launch, the label breaks the intenet and sets the Christmas agenda for all who hope to elevate their cleaning and preening practices.

But none more so than the Dyson Airwap. After unveiling its Supersonic device in 2016, the Airwrap followed suit in 2018 and has since remained one of the most coveted beauty gadgets on the market.

It uses the same pioneering cyclonic technology as the hair dryer where instead of high temperatures, the engineers opted for powerful airflow that was kinder to the strands, while maintaining the same long-lasting styles as its high-heat competitors. This is all due to the Coanda effect where a spinning vortex of air flows around the barrel, pulling hair in to curl with zero effort on your part.

In March 2022, Dyson took it to the next level and launched a re-engineered version of the styler with additional attachments for more versatile styling options and customability. But the elevated price tag remained: a whopping £479.99.

For those without the deep pockets or the inclination, the Airwrap has inspired dupes aplenty where everyone from T3 to Mermade have stylers with varying straightening, curling and drying attachments. So whether you’re looking to create bouncy blow-out curls, effortless beach waves or poker straight frizz and flyaway-free styles, there’s a tool and the accompanying add-on to suit.

Shark FlexStyle 5 in 1 Hair Styler & Dryer

Always hot on Dyson’s heels, Shark - a label also renowned for its vacuums - has thrown its hat into the styler ring, building on the success of its STYLE iQ Hair Dryer. From the outset, the FlexStyle is an impressive device. It comes packing all the accessories, including two curlers - one for the right and one for the left side of your head.

There’s also an oval brush for voluminising, a diffuser for curly locks and a paddle brush or styling concentrator depending on whether you’re looking for poker straight styles or smoothed out straightening. The wand itself is a compact tube that would be easy to slip in an overnight bag and the controls are kept minimal - on/off, heat and speed (three levels each) and the professional-level cold shot. It’s fast, effective and is barely louder than a whisper.

Revlon Pro Collection One Step Dryer and Volumiser

TikTok users may recognise this hot brush, as it went viral as a Dyson dupe on the social media platform in 2020. There’s still so much love for the large oval-shaped styler if you take a look at the constant top reviews this brush gets, and we’re right there with them as it’s as good as its more expensive counterparts just with a simpler 2 heat setting.

Whether you want to lift strands at the roots, create frizz-free volume or curl ends, this top tool does so with its ionic tech for a smooth and powerful simultaneous dry and style. For best results, we still like to rough dry with a hairdryer and style with damp hair.

Dyson Airwrap

And finally... the tool that inspired a hundred (or seven worth noting) dupes. The Dyson Airwrap remains as popular today as when it first launched back in 2018 and has only become more advanced with additional attachments in all shapes and sizes. Older devices are still compatible with newer add-ons, the latter of which come complete with a cool tip to aid in the styling process.

The Airwrap boasts the high-pressure motor pioneered from the label that creates the Coanda effect to form curls, waves, dry and smoothed styles with extreme heat removed as part of the equation - thus promoting healthier, strengthened strands.
