We’re all looking to save money where we can these days. From looking up budget-friendly meals to bulk cook and freeze for later, and shopping for energy-efficient appliances to cut bills, Britain is in full-on thrifty mode.
While it may seem counterintuitive to spend money, big sales offer an excellent opportunity to secure products you need when they’re at a discount, thereby saving you cash in the long run.
Amazon is one of the best-known destinations for competitively priced goods with speedy delivery - often next day if you happen to be a Prime member.
And if you have Prime membership, no event is more eagerly awaited than Amazon’s famous Prime Day sale, which usually takes place in July every year.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
Despite the singular name, Amazon’s flagship sales event spans a 48 hour period. This, folks, is a two-day gig.
During this period - and for Prime membership holders only - prices fall dramatically across the board. It’s not just in the UK either; Amazon Prime Day is a global affair, taking place in countries across the world.
What are Prime Experience deals?
Kicking things up a notch for the 2023 sale, Amazon is running special, once-in-a-lifetime offers to make UK shoppers “Feel Like a Big Deal this Prime Day”.
For instance, there will be a chance to buy a trip to the new set of Neighbours in Australia, and there are plenty of other similar experiences in the pipeline. Each one will be paired with a Prime Day product and available as a limited, one-off purchase during Prime Day.
How to find the best deals in the Amazon Prime Day sale
There’s only one place you’ll want to be when things kick off: ES Best. We’ve seen our fair share of Amazon Prime Days and when there’s a genuinely good deal, we’ll shout about it from the digital rooftops to our readers.
We run a live blog for every Amazon Prime Day as well as Black Friday sales in November so stay tuned by bookmarking our homepage and checking back regularly for updated info.
How to take part in Amazon Prime Day
There is a catch to the sale, but it’s a teeny, tiny one. In order to take advantage of the stupendously low offers on Amazon Prime Day, you have to be a Prime member. It’s rather obvious, really.
UK membership costs £8.99 a month or you can choose to pay it annually at £95 for the year, which is more cost-effective in the long-run. For students, it’s £4.49 per month or £47.49 yearly.
Is Prime membership worth it? It’s not all sales and Prime delivery: membership unlocks worlds of music, streaming, books, gaming and entertainment, and so much more. Prepare to lose quite a few hours lost in the wonder of the Amazon universe. The best news is that you can trial all the services on offer with a free 30-day test run. With zero commitment, what have you got to lose?

Sony Bravia KD32W800PU
This Google TV-powered 32-inch set from Sony is a bit more expensive than many on this list, but with Sony’s Live Colour technology, it manages to produce image quality that might make up for the extra expense. It’s LED-backlit, though without local dimming, and HD Ready, which means 720p, or more precisely 1366 x 768 pixels.
Despite this, it has three HDMI 2.0b ports, which can handle much higher resolutions, and all the usual USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a headphone socket. Another interesting feature is that its stand is much more central than other sets, which tend to put their feet out on the edges of the frame, meaning the Sony can be perched on smaller cabinets.
Google TV means you get voice-control via the remote, a broad range of streaming apps, and Chromecast built-in, so you can mirror your phone screen on the TV.

FOREO Bear Microcurrent Facial Toning Device With 5 Intensities
Innovative Scandinavian label has been putting a hi-tech twist on beauty routines the world over for quite some time with its bestselling LUNA device that is not your average cleansing brush. It uses silicone and sonic to make your products more efficacious (but more on that below).
The BEAR is one of the brand’s newer offerings and has been created specifically for facial toning. Crafted in the FOREO signature silicone, it delivers microcurrent and T-Sonic pulsations that exercise each and every muscle in the face and neck (don’t forget the neck!). Entirely safe and foolproof, the brand opts for a patented Anti-Shock System so you need not fear about any potential mishaps as it will automatically adjust to the area in question through sensors. This provides an entirely pain-free experience and yet you won’t help but notice the visible changes, especially when it comes to areas like the cheekbones.
Connect to the app and you can follow one of the customisable facial workouts for a face PT in your pocket, helping to boost collagen and elastin and tighten skin at the same time by penetrating and stimulating at a cellular level and resulting in a natural toning effect. More than just skin deep, this beauty gadget is able to reach through the skin’s layers in order to encourage better circulation, offer lympathic drainage and ease tensions to leave you with the glowing skin that you deserve.
Plus the battery life is so long-lasting, you can use it over 90 times without needing to rejuice - just remember where you leave the charger. There are no additional attachments but it is best paired with a serum to allow the device to glide along the skin with ease - a mini version of the brand’s SERUM SERUM SERUM is included with this purchase.
