East Kilbride restaurateur Darren Teo has been served a string of industry award nods.
Asian takeaway Padi has received two nominations in this year's Spice Awards for best chef and best takeaway.
And Oiishi Japanese Cuisine is in the running for best oriental restaurant in The Food Awards Scotland and best restaurant in Scotland in this year's Golden Chopsticks Awards.
Padi head chef Stephen Lau's mouth-watering Nanyang Monk Fish won a cook-off at Glasgow City College Cook School to land his nomination. Judges were impressed with the Malaysian cuisine - a firm favourite among the community of East Kilbride.
Winners will be announced at the Spice Awards final hosted by Des Clarke in Glasgow's Crowne Plaza on Monday, September 12.
Darren Teo told Lanarkshire Live : "We were delighted to hear that Padi, East Kilbride, was put forward for Best Chef (Asian Cuisine) by the Spice Awards.
"After careful consideration between ourselves and head chef, Stephen Lau, we chose to go with Nanyang Monk Fish on the day – which we felt best represented the ties we have with Malaysian cuisine.
"Nanyang sauce is enjoyed across the breadth of Malaysia – peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak – a favourite amongst our people and also the local community here in East Kilbride and Glasgow.
"Stephen is an integral part of the kitchen at Padi, but also lends his skills to others over at Oiishi – helping shape the futures of our younger chefs by sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience over the past 28 years in Asia and the UK.
"We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Stephen on his nomination and wish him the very best of luck on the night."
Darren added: "It was a hard decision to launch Padi in April 2021 – during the pandemic – but one we felt we had to do. Stephen’s vision for Padi, coupled with his array and creativity of dishes, gave us confidence to press on with the launch.
"And in a little over a year, largely down to the fantastic support of East Kilbride and surrounding areas, we have managed to not only establish ourselves but also be nominated for awards. From the management team and all the staff, we would like to thank each and every one of you."
Oiishi Japanese Cuisine, based in East Kilbride Village, is in the running for best oriental establishment at The Food Awards Scotland final in the Marriott Hotel, Glasgow, on Monday, September 19, and for best restaurant in Scotland at The Golden Chopsticks Awards final in London's Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Monday, September 26, hosted by Gok Wan.
