Best carry on luggage: Stylish bags and suitcases for your next staycation

Let’s be frank about this. We’ve hit the one year mark after the pandemic first upended our lives, and now that we can (just about) see the light at the end of the tunnel, we need to get into serious prep mode.

With June 21 currently being bookmarked as our pandemic independence day, it makes sense for us to aim to have our affairs in order by then. And by affairs, I mean post-lockdown make-up, outfits and holidays.

But there’s no use going on a holiday (remember holidays?) if you’re going to head off somewhere near or far with the same ratty case you’ve been using for however long and probably inherited from your parents. It’s time to upgrade.

With our next staycations or, for the vaccine-d among us, vacations are looking more appealing than ever. We’ve rounded up the cutest carry-ons for that all-important post-lockdown trip.

Antler Clifton Cabin Suitcase

Just about as chic as they come, and approved by fashion forward influencer Jessie Bush, Antler’s Clifton Cabin Suitcase comes in eight sultry pastel hues in a size that fits almost all airlines’ carry-on allowances. While it’s not expandable it is cute as hell and also customisable, so who are we to say no really?

Ookonn circular check-in suitcase

For those willing to invest in a fashion-forward carry-on, look to celebrity favourite Ookonn. Its cases might make your bank balance wince, but its circular carry-ons - which come monogrammed too for an additional cost - are what suitcase dreams are made of. Hold on to your hats for some serious compliments with this one.

Eastpak Tranverz Salty Pink Case

For those who prefer a softer and more malleable carry-on, this Eastpak iteration is as good as they come. For those who travel lightly, there are hand loops, for those who don’t, there’s a handle and wheels. Take your pick.

River Island Beige Monogram Suitcase

River Island’s monogram case looks as classic as it does smart. With an expandable zip and a timeless pattern and colour way, this is a case for life.

Samsonite Magnum Spinner Suitcase

Samsonite’s hard cases are relied upon by even the most infrequent of travellers and for good reason. With a built-in coded lock and compartments within the case (hello, easy packing), its suitcases are a traveler’s dream and are available in an array of colours from fun pinks to business blacks.

Verdict

Antler’s forever Clifton Cabin Suitcase is a foolproof choice. An investment for sure, but it’s chic and sharp and once travelling is normalised again, we can buy bigger sister cases in the same or coordinating colours! It’s a win-win.
