Best Buy Accidentally Publishes Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Date in Now-Deleted Blog Post

Nintendo Switch 2's pre-order could coincide with the upcoming Nintendo Direct on April 2. Apparently, the information came from Best Buy Canada, which accidentally published the blog post a few hours ago.

While the blog post has since been deleted, it indicated that customers will be able to get their hands on their console early. Although Best Buy did not announce a specific time for pre-orders, the date aligns with the Switch presentation, which begins at 9 AM ET / 6 AM PT.

Switch 2 Pre-Orders Could Follow the Nintendo Direct

Historically, Nintendo has trended towards releasing pre-orders following its flagship events, according to The Verge. The first Nintendo Switch, for example, went up for pre-order right after its January 2017 reveal, forcing fans to physically go to stores such as Best Buy and Target to reserve their consoles ahead of the official release date on March 3, 2017.

US Retailers Still to Confirm Switch 2 Pre-Orders

Major US retailers such as Best Buy, as of now, have not officially revealed if they will start pre-orders after the next Nintendo Direct. That being said, based on previous trends and from the leak at Best Buy Canada, there is a strong chance that US-based pre-orders might become available shortly after the presentation as well.

What We Know About the Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo initially revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 in January, giving some insight into what the new and improved hardware looked like and had to offer. Here's the lowdown for fans:

  • Larger screen and more colorful display
  • Backward compatibility with some Switch 1 games
  • Magnetically attached Joy-Cons

Hands-On Events Fully Booked

Nintendo has already announced a series of hands-on events nationwide from April to May for those who are keen to get hands on the Switch 2. All the tickets, however, have been taken because of high demand.

If you were left out, you can still be added to the waiting list for the possibility of attending.
