Best breakfast and brunch places and cafes in Salford

Fancy a spot of brunch?

Salford is packed with cafés and eateries that offer the perfect backdrop to a breakfast or brunch date. 

Whether you fancy a proper Full English or a light mid-morning snack, there are plenty of places to choose from.

Deli-Lama Art & Cafe-Bar on Chapel Street offers a twist on tradition with their Caribbean Scramble made from sweet potato, scrambled egg and plantain.

And over in MediaCityUK, Grindsmith offer dishes for the health-conscious including grilled peaches with granola crumble and Greek yogurt.

And there are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians too including Vintage Ambiance's Vegan Breakfast consisting of vegan sausages, thyme roasted flat mushroom and scrambled tofu.

Vintage Ambiance

Vintage Ambiance, on Monton Road in Eccles, is a tea room by day and contemporary restaurant by night.

Its brunch menu showcases meals that are freshly prepared using seasonal products handpicked by local supplies.

Items on the menu include eggs Bennie topped with your choice smoked streaky bacon, honey cured ham, pastrami, Bury black pudding, smoked salmon, sautéed wild mushrooms, crushed avocado, sautéed baby spice.

Any if you fancy something sweet, there's also fluffy pancakes topped with mixed berries and clotted cream.

Vintage Ambiance also caters for vegetarians and vegans.

It's Vegan Breakfast includes two vegan sausages, thyme roasted flat mushroom, cherry tomatoes, Heinz beans, house potato hash and scrambled tofu.

Diners can also enjoy a varied selection of loose leaf tea and slow roasted coffee.

FoodWell

FoodWell is a Californian inspired restaurant with a 'mindful' menu that offers colourful plates of feel good food.

For breakfast and brunch, guests can choose dishes like winter spiced granola brown with mulled poached pear and burnt orange, sweet miso granola and coconut yogurt.

The restaurant also offers its own take on a Full English breakfast - featuring smashed avocado, onion, jalapeño and lime spread on toasted charcoal sourdough with your choice of poached eggs, streaky bacon, grilled halloumi and smoked salmon.

Or for another twist on a classic is the Black Forrest French Toast which features fluffy cinnamon and vanilla brioche, toasted marshmallows, drizzled with chocolate and black cherry crush.

The restaurant also has a studio which can be booked for yoga, workshops, events and private dining.

Lupo Caffè Italiano

Lupo Caffè Italiano, located at the Boat Shed, Exchange Quay, serves award-winning Italian coffee.

Italian-flavours continue to run through its daily-changing menu which has previous included crostatina with nutella, stuffed peppers and pistachio, and white chocolate muffins.

The cafe also makes Italian birthday cakes with custom designs.

Walk-ins are welcome and food is also available to take away.

The Treehouse

The Treehouse on Lower Broughton Road is an independent cafe serving high quality coffee and food.

It's a cosy Salford nook where diners can enjoy freshly made cakes and Instagram-worthy breakfast and brunch items.

The menu has previous included bacon and cheese quiche with salad mess, pancakes with fresh berries and a traditional Full English breakfast consisting of two rashers of bacon, two sausages, two eggs, tomatoes, black pudding, beans and toast.

Deli-Lama Art & Cafe-Bar

Deli-Lama's inventive breakfast and brunch menu is infused with flavours of the Caribbean.

The menu - which is served from 11am to 3pm on weekends - features items including the Caribbean Scramble made from sweet potato, onions, bell pepper, Caribbean spices, scrambled egg with toast and plantain.

You can also enjoy baked eggs and spiced beans and Jamaican coffee made with spiced rum, espresso coffee and diary or plant milk served hot. or chilled

And there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options available too.

The Vegan Full English offers Cumberland-style vegan sausage, facon, vegan egg, beans, roast tomato, mushrooms, hash browns and toast.

Grindsmith

Grindsmith's Salford Cafe is situated in MediaCityUK.

The brand began as a Kickstarter campaign which funded 'the pod' on Greengate Square.

This was followed by their coffee trike, their hub on Deansgate, and their latest addition in MediaCityUk.

With a full kitchen, Grindsmith MediaCityUK offer breakfast, brunch and lunch, a full cocktail, beer and wine menu.

They're also known for their top quality coffee.

The menu includes grilled peaches with granola crumble, Greek yogurt, honey and pecan nuts; Full English consisting of streaky bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash brown, tomato, mushroom, baked beans, egg of your choice and toasted sourdough; and buttermilk pancakes with berries and mascarpone.

Matchsticks Café Bar and Bistro

Matchsticks Café Bar and Bistro on Broughton Lane serves up British, breakfast and brunch items.

The cafe is child-friendly and offers table service, takeaway service and group or party bookings.

Previous menu items have included pancakes with sausage, berries and maple syrup; poached eggs with bacon, spinach and toast and poached egg; and smashed avocado on toast

Cafe Rouge Salford

Where is it?

Cafe Rouge Salford Quays sits inside the Lowry Outlet Mall.

The well-known bistro chain provides its guests with a Parisian-inspired setting to enjoy a menu influenced by classic French flavours.

The menu features dishing including sourdough toast topped with your choice of bacon and eggs, smashed avocado and vine tomatoes, smashed avocado and smoked salmon or smoked salmon and eggs and the Rouge Breakfast consisting of free-range eggs, Cumberland sausage, sweet cure bacon, beans, mushroom, tomato and sourdough toast (vegetarian option available)

For a sweet brunch, dinners can choose pancakes with toppings including sweet cure bacon, banana and maple syrup or fresh berries and pineapple with fruit compote.
