Best belts for men in 2024: Options for any outfit

Though the idea of belt shopping isn’t exactly thrilling, it’s actually the one accessory that has the potential to pull an entire look together.

While sunglasses, jewellery and hats are striking statement pieces that are the stars of the show, belts act as more of a supporting role which always ends up being your favourite – the Stanley Tucci of the accessory world, if you will.

Since they’re so underrated, most guys are guilty of wearing the exact same belt day in and day out which, unsurprisingly, ends up looking a little worse for wear. So, to prevent this from happening, it’s best to have a strong selection which you can switch up depending on your look.

An understated leather belt for a formal dress code, a chunky buckle to lift a basic tee and jeans with #OldMoney appeal or a Western take if you like to stay on trend (you’ve got Beyonce and Taylor Swift to blame for the latter). And you’ll need a choice of black and brown to match your shoes, naturally.

The good news? If you invest in a classic style that’s made well, you’ll be wearing it for years to come. Steer clear of any gaudy colours, overly statement details or plasticky textiles and instead follow a quiet luxury agenda – premium leather and low-key buckles, we’re looking at you.

For inspo, look no further than menswear’s incumbent muse Paul Mescal. To attend Gucci’s Cruise 2025 show, he wore an all-black ‘fit which was taken up a notch with a simple black leather belt.

So, even if your trousers are the perfect fit, a belt is the finishing touch you never knew you needed. Find your next favourite in the list below.
