Best baseball caps for men and women to wear all year round

It happens every year… It gets to the dark, cold winter months, and you have no idea how to upgrade your look for the chilly temperatures. You hate the inconvenience of gloves, a bobble hat is too hot, and a cumbersome scarf just isn’t you. Well, the good news is we have the perfect solution that’s fashionable, comfortable, and easy to wear with almost any look - the baseball cap.

Don’t for one minute think they’re reserved for the summer months. They may ahve been first created back in 1859 by New York based baseball team the Knickerbockers to keep the sun out of their pitchers, catchers, and fielders eyeline, the cap we know and love today is an all-weather-warrior. The construction will protect you from rain and sun, and keep your noggin warm at the same time.

Adopted at first by sports brands, the humble headpiece has since become a constant in the collections of luxury fashion houses and independent labels alike, as a key component in the oh-so-mysterious off-duty-celebrity look à la Ben Affleck - only when worn with your favourite pair of sunglasses, naturally. Even the royals are fans of the headgear, with the likes of Lady Di and Prince William sporting preppy iterations of the design.

Our favourite silhouette is a six panel, meaning there’s a seam centre-front so the forepart of the cap doesn’t have the stiff and convex look oft-associated with New Era style flat caps. Instead it’s softer, supple, and gives a more relaxed vibe that’s much more in keeping with the desired aesthetic.

Embroidery is your friend, whether it’s a brand’s logo, a quippy slogan, or a cute icon, but keep the colour palette in the muted and worn-in department for a design that is brimming with vintage and collegiate appeal.

Keep scrolling to discover the best available now that will have you swanning around like your inner A-lister in no time.
