Best anti-frizz sprays to get smooth, glossy hair - from Redken to John Frieda

Summer can be a nightmare for those prone to frizz.

Even the slightest bit of humidity - or more likely, drop of rain - and it's enough to turn your hair into one big mess.

Luckily there are products out there that promise to help tame your mane, add in shine and protect from UV rays and heat styling.

Whether you've got fine, frizzy hair or thick curls that need more defining, there's something for everyone.

We've had our Notebook beauty team try (and score) the newest formulas, in a bid to see if they turned their hair from poufy to sleek with just a few spritzes.

Here's what they thought...

Got2b Twisted Anti-frizz Styling Spray, £4.19

Beauty ed Octavia says: ‘I used the version for waves and loose curls but there’s also one for seriously curly hair.

'It comes out as a superfine spray and transformed my post-wash hair from a frizz-fest to smooth and manageable.

'Be careful not to use too much or it gets a bit crunchy when dry.’

Redken Frizz Dismiss Anti-Static Oil Mist, £25

Fashion ed Michelle says: ‘This light serum can be sprayed onto wet or dry lengths.

'I have dyed blonde hair which can get very dry and I suffer from frizz and fly-aways.

'This tamed my roots but also moisturised my split ends – as well as leaving a nice sheen which seems to have brightened my hair.’

IGK Hair Crybaby Anti-Frizz Smoothing Serum, £22

Features ed Emma says: ‘You’re meant to use this on dry mid-lengths and ends.

'I did and it made my hair smooth, shiny and not at all greasy – but you only need a teeny bit.

'It also made my hair poker straight, but when I tried using a curling tong, my curls didn’t hold as well as usual.

'It’s a wonder for sleek hair though.’

John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum, £6.99

Deputy features ed Rosie says: ‘Smelt lovely and when I applied it to wet hair and dried it, my ends felt and looked silky smooth.

'I only needed a tiny drop as it goes a long way.

'I’ve used the original serum before and this super-strength version feels quite a bit heavier, which is good for thicker hair types.’

Percy & Reed Oh-So-Smooth Frizz Fixer, £15

Beauty director Lynne says: ‘This isn’t a serum but an on-the-go taming and perfecting polish to mist on dry hair.

'It was somewhere between a shine spray and a frizz sealer. It smelt amazing, didn’t make my roots greasy, and disguised the fact my ends are splitting.

'Also made my hair look very shiny.’
