We usually put these things out much earlier in the day. But, uh, a few things kinda sorta happened this morning.
Anyway, here are the best and worst Pro Football Focus grades for the Carolina Panthers in their Week 12 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Best of the offense
1. WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette: 76.7
2. RT Taylor Moton: 75.8
3. TE Ian Thomas: 65.8
4. QB Bryce Young: 62.7
5. WR DJ Chark: 62.3
All things considered (and there’s a lot of things that need considering), Young was solid. He finished with a 76.5 passer rating along with 23 rushing yards on three attempts.
Chark, after registering zero targets over 44 snaps last week, reeled in three balls for 34 yards.
Worst of the offense
14. G Nash Jensen: 48.7
15. TE Tommy Tremble: 46.9
16. WR Adam Thielen: 45.9
17. G Brett Toth: 44.1
18. G Chandler Zavala: 40.4
Jensen, Toth and Zavala combined to allow seven of the 14 pressures put on Young.
Thielen and Tremble both went for one catch apiece, totaling just nine receiving yards.
Best of the defense
1. LB Deion Jones: 92.8
2. OLB Brian Burns: 82.3
3. OLB DJ Johnson: 80.7
4. DT Derrick Brown: 77.1
5. CB D’Shawn Jamison: 70.4*
*Played two defensive snaps
Jones’ 92.8 was the second-highest single-game grade on defense for Carolina this season. He earned a sparkling 91.1 coverage grade, allowing one 1-yard catch over three targets.
Burns, meanwhile, led the way with three pressures (including his sixth sack of the year) and tied with Brown for a team-best three stops.
Worst of the defense
19. DE LaBryan Ray: 56.3
20. LB Frankie Luvu: 49.2
21. CB Troy Hill: 48.0
22. S Alex Cook: 44.2
23. CB Donte Jackson: 42.6
Jackson hit a bump after playing his best stretch of ball here in 2023. He was saddled with a team-worst 28.4 grade against the run and a 51.2 in coverage.
