Best Amazon Prime Day Kindle deals: How to choose the perfect device for you

With so many books on the market, it's difficult to make the space on your shelves to fit them all. There are also some books you may want to read in public without people knowing exactly what they are, yes I am referring to books with shirtless men plastered on the covers.

Ebooks have grown hugely in popularity over recent years and while you can easily read them on your phone the small screen and glare can make it difficult. Amazon have a range of different Kindle models to suit each readers needs, but it can be tricky to figure out.

Here's our guide to the different models:

Amazon Kindle

The classic original model might be the most famous, and typically retailing at just £69.99 it's the most budget friendly out there.

It does have the fewest features, but with a 6" glare-free screen and weeks of battery life it's a good option if you're just looking for a quick fix. You can also listen to Audible using Bluetooth with the device, making it a good starting option.

There are only 4 LEDs making up the front light and the resolution is just 167ppi which is much lower than the more recent models, but with a 1-year limited warranty it's a great way to suss out if ebooks are for you.

Current price: £69.99.

While we don't know yet what Amazon Prime Day might bring in terms of pricing, Amazon pricing tracker CamelCamelCamel shows it has gone down as low as £39.99 this year already.

Kindle Kids

The Kindle Kids is much like the classic Kindle model, with all of the same features but a 2-year worry-free warranty so you don't have to stress out about your little ones breaking it.

There are fun cases with birds and space stations being an option, or just pink or blue. This is a great way to easily identify the different devices if you have more than one little reader at home.

The Kindle reading model allows you to look up unfamiliar words which is great for when you're first learning to read.

Not only that, but it comes with a 1 year subscription to Amazon Kids+ which gives you access to thousands of children's books. This includes the entire Harry Potter catalogue, classics like Oliver Twist and Grimms' Fairy Stories and the first books from a range of popular series so your little one can find out if they like the style before committing.

With Amazon Kids+ pricing changing last month, much to some parents' fury, the retailers has already launched a three-month subscription to the service for £3.99 as an early Amazon Prime Day deal.

Current price: £99.99 and this has been the kids' Kindle price all year so far, meaning if it goes down in price this Prime Day it's the perfect time to snap one up.

Kindle Paperwhite

With a bigger screen (6.8") and a significant increase in both the resolution (300ppi) and front light (17 LEDs), it makes sense that the Paperwhite is the favourite in the online book community.

Much like the classic Kindle model there is a 1-year limited warranty, but if you're planning to read poolside this model is waterproof meaning you don't have to worry when you take it on holiday.

Readers can adjust the warmth of the light, which I find useful after a long day when cooler tones feel too harsh on my eyes.

Current price: £129.99 although we know it has was reduced to £89.99 in early May making it potentially another one to watch on Prime Day.

Kindle Paperwhite Kids

The Kindle Paperwhite Kids has all of the features of the Kindle Paperwhite, with the added bonuses of Kindle Kids.

If your little ones want to copy their parents and read by the pool or on the beach, you don't have to worry about any splashes damaging the device and the 2-year worry-free warranty means your kids can get up to their normal child behaviour without you worrying about any breaks breaking the bank.

If you've got a more avid reader then this is a great option, you can choose from Black, Emerald Forest, or Robot Dreams covers.

Current price: £139.99. Previously this year it was reduced to £94.99 in early May.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition

As the name might suggest, this model has all of the same features as the Kindle Paperwhite, but with three very notable updates.

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition has auto-adjusting light sensors which means you don't have to fuss about with adjustments as you spend the day reading.

Not only that but for particularly avid readers or those who are sick of wires, this model is the only Kindle to offer wireless charging. Unlike most models this offers a 32GB storage so you can stock up when you're away from Wi-fi.

Current price: £179.99, with the best discount this year so far being £40 in early May.

Kindle Oasis

The Kindle Oasis is the biggest and most expensive of the Kindle models. The screen is a whopping 7" and has 25 LEDs making up the front light.

You have the choice of Graphite or Gold and can enjoy all of the same features as the Kindle Paperwhite with the addition of the auto-adjusting light sensors.

While it doesn't have wireless charging, it does have auto-rotating page orientation and page turn buttons - this is exclusive to the Oasis model.

It is also the only Kindle to offer both Wifi connection and free mobile connectivity. You can choose between a 8 GB or 32 GB model. For those who love reading this is a great option, and while it's on sale it's worth picking up ahead of any special occasions.

Price: £229.99. Readers keen to pick up the best of the best should definitely keep an eye on this from Tuesday, with a reduction in early May seeing this reduced to £169.99.
