Best alcohol deals for Amazon Prime Day 2024: Wine, beer and spirits offers

Al-fresco is never over, so long as you have the right accessories.

With that in mind, it’s time to start thinking about the necessities you’ll need to host outdoors even when the mercury drops. And one ingredient every good party needs? Booze.

The good news is that we’re expecting another Amazon Prime Day event, so you can make the most of discounts across beer, wine, spirits and more. While the site is more commonly known for tech or homeware essentials, its digital shelves are also stocked with discounted tipples that rival the supermarkets or your local offie.

All needs are covered by the drinks deals on offer. There’s champagne for those with a taste for the finer things, Aperol for the spritz-obsessed, and most spirits – vodka, whiskey and gin, included. And that’s all before you get to budget-friendly beers or discounted crates of wine, including incredible deals on rose, the wine of the summer.

Those who aren’t drinking will be catered for, too, with the retailer’s growing number of no and low options

The best part? Instead of schlepping heavy bags of bottles and cans from the shops, they’ll be delivered to your door. If you’re a Prime member, you may get your order as early as the next working day.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Bargain-obsessives have Amazon Prime Day earmarked in their calendar every year.

The online giant’s flagship sale is usually held in July for Prime Members only, but we can also look forward to big deals in October. Expect price cuts in every category, from TVs and vacuums to Kindles and lawnmowers, there are discounts to be had across the board.

When is the official Amazon Prime Big Deal Days in 2024?

This year’s event takes place on October 8 and 9, so you’ve got two full days to bag deals.

How to take part in Amazon Prime Big Deal Days

If you want to take part, you’ll need to be signed up for Prime membership. You could pay an £8.99 monthly subscription or subscribe annually for £95, which works out a little cheaper. If you’re a student, it’s half price – so that’s £4.49 a month, or £47.49 per year.

Not only will you be able to shop the sale, but you’ll also get free next-day delivery on many products, as well as a membership to Amazon Music, Prime Video, Deliveroo and Amazon Reading to name a few.

Sign up for a 30-day free trial for Amazon Prime here.

What kind of deals were there last year?

When it comes to booze, it would be easier to list the tipples that aren’t on offer. Usually, the best price cuts are on whisky, gin and champagne – from Jack Daniels to Veuve Cliquot – but you can find rock-bottom prices across nearly all of the categories.

Are there any discounts available at Amazon now?

Yes – keep scrolling to shop the best.

Bottoms up!

Champagne

Expensive taste just became a little cheaper with Amazon Prime sales. When better to treat yourself to your favourite bottle of bubbly?

Moët & Chandon

An instantly recognised brand, Moët & Chandon is a bottle that you’ll find in luxury hotels and restaurants the world over. Its history can be traced back to 1743 and wine merchant Claude Moët who founded the legendary Champagne house. An affordable price point and crisp, fruity flavour profile are two of the reasons it has found widespread success.

Champagne Lanson

Founded in 1760, Champagne Lanson is a famous Champagne house based in Reims and is perhaps best regarded for its Black Label cuvee, its flagship sparkling wine. Hawk eyed drinkers will notice the Maltese cross on the label; it’s there because the founder’s son had ties to the Hospitaller’s Order of Malta, thought to be the oldest charity in the world, founded in 1048. For Lanson, the cross now represents openness, kindness and hospitality.

The core range includes the renowned Black Label, a fresh and sweet White Label, a fruity and delicate Le Rosé, Le Blancs de Blancs and Le Black Réserve, a full and fresh non-vintage Brut.

Whisky

Everyone knows a self-confessed whisky aficionado. Why not buy their next birthday present while top brands like Talisker and Glenmorangie are available for less?

Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack Tennessee Whiskey 70cl

While Jack Daniel's Old No.7 is a gateway whisky for many drinkers, the Gentleman Jack expression offers a more sophisticated serve. The smooth Tennessee whiskey has been double-mellowed through charcoal and sugar maple, carrying caramel, vanilla and gentle spice flavours, all rounding off smoothly. Try it in a cocktail: it works well in both whiskey sours and Manhattans.

The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisk

Sometimes, scotch needn’t be complex, mysterious, deep and dark: sometimes it should be built to be drunk. That’s what this dram offers: creamy, slightly fruity stuff, that smells and tastes clean, with something like pear running through it. Crack open a bottle with friends and get through it merrily: this isn’t one to put on a pedestal, but one to have fun with.

Rum

BACARDÍ Reserva 8 Year Old

If there’s one thing Bacardi knows how to make, it’s rum. The Cuban company has been producing the spirit since 1862 and today is one of the best-known rum makers in the world, offering light, dark and spiced varieties to the masses.

If it’s spiced that’s caught your thirst, the eight-year-old Reserva is a drop of something really special. The golden spirit is made with an old family recipe before spending eight years ageing in oak barrels underneath the intense heat of the Caribbean sun. A serve reveals sweet syrupy notes along with banana and oak from its wooden containers It would be criminal to mix this with anything else, pour yourself a measure and enjoy it neat.

Salford Honey Rum

With an intense honey flavour, The Salford Honey Rum is rich, syrupy and utterly decadent. Luxuriously smooth and with a wonderful sweetness, it is made with a single-origin pot and column distilled rum that is blended and bottled under two miles from the famous docks.  Pairing this with real Salford honey results in a deep flavour, with undertones of caramel.

This is delicious served as is, on the rocks, or beautifully elevated cocktails.

Gin

Whether you prefer it with tonic or ginger ale, you can get some of the best gin brands on the market for a fraction of the price – Sipsmith and Tarquin’s, included.

Tanqueray No. TEN Gin

From famous gin brand Tanqueray comes this award-winning No. TEN expression, thrumming with the vibrancy of a citrus heart. The 4x distilled spirit is suitably housed in a pale green bottle with a pretty rose gold twist lid with enough style points to live on long after the final drops have left it. A delight to have and hold.

Casamigos Tequila

Star power: George Clooney

George Clooney: actor, film director, producer, screenwriter - and one-time co-owner of tequila brand Casamigos. Founded in 2013 by Clooney and Cindy Crawford’s husband Rande Gerber, it was sold four years later to Diageo for a headspinning $1bn.

Naturally with credentials this starry, the tequila did well in La La Land, a fixture in home bars and parties all through Hollywood and beyond. But Casamigos is not a case of all glamour, no grit.

Production goes above and beyond minimum requirements: the agave is roasted for 10 times the normal time and given twice as long to ferment. This is a blanco, so it’s gone through the fewest steps to produce and is aged for only two months - but it’s still miles better for cocktails than anything with a worm in it.

Vodka

The ultimate cocktail spirit is perfect party bar fodder. Feeling fierce? Mix a martini. If not, we’ve found a Cosmo never fails.

Grey Goose

It hardly needs introduction but if, by some cruel twist of fate, you’ve never heard of Grey Goose, here’s the low-down.

France’s ultra-premium vodka is made from just two ingredients: natural spring water and single-origin wheat grown in limestone soil in the French region of Picardie, so it really is the cream of the crop. The simple ingredient list is juxtaposed by a five-step making process which includes distillation to get the crystal clear, unblemished vodka that’s loved by fans the world over.

Flavoured versions and special editions launch all the time, but you can’t go far wrong with a 70cl bottle of the classic.
