If one kitchen appliance were to be the poster child of efficiency in these cost-of-living times, it would be the air fryer.

The countertop devices have enjoyed stratospheric popularity in recent years, not just because they can cook notoriously calorific foods with just a fraction of the oil - thereby making them a lot healthier - but they can do so at a snip of the energy used by the oven. It means that over time, an air fryer can lower both your household bills and your waistline, so is it any wonder they’ve been flying off the shelves?

Now so popular that John Lewis has released a Christmas bauble in its honour (really!), it’s almost guaranteed that you know someone who has an air fryer, mostly because they won’t stop talking about it.

There’s always a shift in dates because Black Friday takes place on the fourth week of November, rather than a fixed date This year that means the event will kick off on Friday, November 24, the day after our American friends mark Thanksgiving.

The shopping phenomenon began in America as a one-day sale as brands and shops took advantage of US families coming together for Thanksgiving to lay on huge discounts the day after. While Brits don’t celebrate the American holiday, the now-traditional sales took off across the Atlantic as shoppers looked to stretch their pounds further ahead of Christmas.

When does Black Friday end?

One day is just not enough. Black Friday may sound the sales klaxon but it runs through the entire weekend, rounding up on Cyber Monday. This is the day that tech bargains take the spotlight, including appliances like air fryers. Cyber Monday is on November 27 this year.

Throughout 2023, big brands have launched new models while canny shoppers waited patiently for sales to pounce on their air fryer of choice. With the mother of all sales now on the horizon, Black Friday is the best time of the year to make your move.
