Besiktas sporting director Ceyhun Kazanci has spoken about the prospect of losing on-loan striker Wout Weghorst to Manchester United in this month's transfer window.
Weghorst, as reported by the Manchester Evening News , is the subject of interest from United, who want to sign him on loan for the remainder of the season. The Netherlands international is currently on loan at Besiktas from Championship club Burnley.
The 30-year-old joined the Turkish heavyweights on a season-long loan deal back in July following the Clarets' relegation from the Premier League. Weghorst joined the Turf Moor outfit on the final day of the January transfer window last year for a reported fee of £12million from Wolfsburg and failed to help them stave off the threat of relegation.

The striker, who scored twice for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar, has been a regular fixture for Besiktas so far this season, scoring nine goals in 18 appearances, as well as chipping in with four assists. He appeared to be saying farewell to the Turkish outfit after scoring in their 2-1 win over Kasimpasa on Saturday.
However, Kazanci has questioned why Weghorst appeared to be saying goodbye to Besiktas' supporters following the conclusion of the match, confirming that he remains their player. He has also outlined how he believes the Turkish club would be entitled to a percentage of any loan fee Burnley receive from United, should a move come to fruition.
"I don't understand why Weghorst said goodbye to the fans, why he made such a move," Kazanci said, as quoted by Fanatik. "He is our football player right now. Our contract expires at the end of the season.
"If Manchester United or any other team wants Weghorst, they will meet with Burnley anyway. Burnley will then contact us and discuss the terms of separation. If we accept, the contract will be terminated. Otherwise, it will go on until the end of the season.
"He can't just go. There will have to be a reward for us to approve the separation. I'll give an example. Burnley told us, 'We made a deal with this team for Weghorst. We give you half of the transfer fee'. This may be a different condition. Then we'll sit down and talk."
Besiktas have a €10m option to sign Weghorst on a permanent deal and Burnley are understood to have not inserted a recall clause, meaning United could be forced to negotiate with both Burnley and Besiktas. Weghorst has played 20 times in the Premier League during his career, scoring just two goals.
