As reported by the National Hurricane Center, Beryl, a Category 2 hurricane, has weakened to 100 mph winds after hitting land with 110 mph winds earlier today. The storm is currently moving west-northwest at a speed of 15 mph across the Yucatán Peninsula, situated about 15 miles north-northwest of Tulum, Mexico.
Due to its inland location, Beryl is now cut off from the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea that had previously fueled its strength. Consequently, the hurricane is expected to continue weakening in the coming hours.
