Bentley creates 100 jobs to help drive fully electric plans by 2030

Bentley has created 100 engineering jobs as part of its drive to become fully electric by 2030.

The Crewe-headquartered luxury automotive brand said the new hires will help support delivery of its Five-in-Five plan, which commits Bentley to launching a new electric model each year, from 2025.

Applications are open for the first 50 vacancies, with the further job adverts being made posted in the coming months.

Matthias Rabe, Bentley’s member of the board for research and development, said: "Bentley is in the middle of the most significant transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history.

"Extraordinary products has always been at the heart of our business, however tomorrow’s engineers face the most exciting challenges in a generation as we become an exclusively electric car business.

"We are looking for true innovators, who can create the new future of automotive, support our product ambitions and shape our Beyond100 vision as we aim for leadership within sustainable luxury mobility."

The 'Five-in-Five' plan was outlined in January as part of its Beyond100 strategy which will also include a £2.5bn investment in "sustainability" over the next 10 years.

Speaking at the start of the year, chairman and CEO Adrian Hallmark said: "Simultaneously accelerating our Beyond100 strategy and securing BEV production at Crewe, alongside a £2.5bn investment, makes this a major landmark in Bentley’s 102-year history.

"It is a shining light for the Bentley family, our suppliers and partners, as well as the automotive industry and UK manufacturing as a whole.

"This latest announcement regarding Bentley’s Beyond100 plan confirms the initiation of a major transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history.

"The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact.

"That means delivering on our aim to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, and reaffirming our role as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility."
