Benjamin Siegrist 'high' on Celtic transfer shopping list as Ange Postecoglou eyes former Dundee United keeper

Former Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist is high on Celtic's list of options to replace Vasilis Barkas, according to a report.

Barkas completed a loan move to Utrecht on Tuesday after two miserable seasons at Parkhead.

And the Daily Mail reports Ange Postecoglou wants to add more experience alongside current number one Joe Hart and backup shot-stopper Scott Bain.

It's said Siegrist is being considered as a live option after he left Tannadice on freedom of contract at the end of last term.

The Swiss star spent four seasons with United, making almost 150 appearances.

Siegrist was also linked with Celtic under previous boss Neil Lennon and has previously stated he would be open to joining the Parkhead club.

Asked about interest from the Glasgow giants in May 2021, the 30-year-old replied: “If there is interest, I'll take a close look."

English clubs Preston North End and Blackpool have also been credited with an interest this summer.
