Benie Traore Rangers transfer bid 'rejected' as Celtic and Sheffield United both 'interested'

Rangers and Celtic face competition from the English Premier League to land Hacken star Benie Traore, according to a report.

The Ivory Coast sensation is believed to be available at around £5million and that has both the Old Firm clubs keen and EPL new boys Sheffield United reports Alan Nixon in his Boss of Goss column in The Sun. He claims Michael Beale has already had a £2.8million offer booted out while the Hoops have been trying to set up a deal for a week now.

Brendan Rodgers and his Light Blues counterparts can offer a shot at Champions League football but the Blades are trying to snap up the 20-year-old as they look to take advantage of new rules south of the border.

A step up to England's top flight may well appeal to the youngster as interest in his services hots up.

So far this campaign he has banged in 12 goals in 13 league appearances and 15 in all competitions from just 19 outings. He has also chipped in with five assists.

Both Celtic and Rangers are set to add reinforcements in the transfer window with Odin Thiago Holm the first summer arrival at Parkhead. The Ibrox men have already brought in four new faces with many more ins and outs expected in Govan.

The Glasgow rivals will discover their season fixture fate on Friday as they can start planning out their schedules for the campaign ahead.
