BENGALURU: Four vehicles — two SUVs, one car, and a mini-truck were damaged in a serial accident on Peenya flyover around 11 am on Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a car heading towards Tumakuru applied sudden brake on noticing a highway patrol vehicle parked on the same lane. As a result, an SUV rammed the car from behind, forcing three other vehicles to rear-end each other.
Passersby took the patrolling vehicle staff to task for parking on the speed lane without putting up any warning boards. “The patrolling staff were removing flexes and boards installed on the elevated expressway. But there was no signboard to indicate the ongoing work. Sheer negligence by them caused the accident,” a citizen said.
Peenya police said they are yet to receive a complaint over the accident. Asked whether the patrolling vehicle was parked unscientifically, cops said they are yet to investigate the matter.
