Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins has a reunion in mind with fellow Clemson Tigers alum Isaiah Simmons.
After the NFL draft, word broke that the Arizona Cardinals won’t pick up the fifth-year option on Simmons, the eighth-overall pick in 2020 during the same event that saw the Bengals draft Higgins 33rd.
As a result, Simmons still has one year left on his current rookie deal. But that didn’t stop Higgins from taking to Twitter and suggesting that in a year’s time, Simmons should come to the Queen City, going back to his roots.
It’s just a funny thing from Higgins right now and a lot can happen between now and then. But it’s not totally unappealing for a Bengals defense always looking to add versatile playmakers. And those same rebuilding Cardinals dropped the ball with former 13th pick Haason Reddick for three years until getting 12.5 sacks out of him. He’s since had 11 and 16 more with two different teams. So far, Simmons has just 7.5 sacks over three seasons.
Rest assured, Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo would like to help the Simmons rehab project too, so he’d probably like to hear what Higgins has in mind.
Yo moms from cincy my boy… come to ya roots in a year https://t.co/E2hGH7Gptj
