Bengals WR Tee Higgins best trade fit is Commanders, says NFL analyst

Right now, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins is more likely to miss multiple games with an injury than get traded before next week’s deadline.

But that won’t stop the Higgins trade speculation from happening.

Analyzing things ahead of the deadline, USA Today’s Jacob Camenker outlined the Washington Commanders as the best fit for Higgins: “Higgins is a free agent after the 2024 NFL season, and the Cincinnati Bengals aren’t likely to retain the 6-4, 219-pound receiver. They still need to ink Ja’Marr Chase to a lucrative, long-term extension, so paying Higgins his worth won’t be easy between that and Joe Burrow’s massive contract.”

Washington does present one of the ideal situations for a Higgins trade partner — the Commanders have the cap flexibility to make it work, the draft assets to offer, players to offer, and play in the NFC. It would be doing right by Higgins himself too, sending him to a team with Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin.

That said, the Bengals aren’t trading Higgins. The offense has been too good when he’s on the field and there’s still that super-slim possibility the Bengals find a way to bring him back on a long-term deal.

Barring Higgins getting healthy and a monster haul the Bengals can’t refuse (first-round pick and more), all speculation on the topic is just a fun exercise.
