The Cincinnati Bengals season is officially over, and it was far from what fans and the organization expected going into the year, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t still some bright spots along the way.
Ja’Marr Chase and the offense was one of those. In the 2024 season, he became the first player to ever have both over 1,700 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in a single season, officially ending up with 1,708 yards.
He and Joe Burrow were a big part of the late push the Bengals were able to make toward the playoffs, but ultimately, the hole the team had dug itself into early on was too deep to get out of.
Chase has been great ever since he was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2021 draft, already with four seasons over 1,00 receiving yards and 46 career touchdowns, and his record-setting performances are justifying the early selection even more.
He has long been in the conversation of the top wide receivers in the league, but with numbers like he was able to achieve this year, he might have made the clamoring for himself being No. 1in the league even louder.
The Bengals and Chase haven’t come to an agreement yet on a contract extension, but with the season he had, Chase might have earned himself an even bigger future payday.
