Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase Caps Historic Season as 6th WR to Win Triple Crown

Ja’Marr Chase became the 6th NFL WR since the Super Bowl era to win the receiving triple crown.

Ja’Marr Chase may not be heading to the playoffs, but his season will be remembered among the greats. On Sunday night, the Cincinnati Bengals star etched his name in NFL history, becoming just the sixth wide receiver of the Super Bowl era to achieve the elusive triple crown.

Chase’s 2024 season was nothing short of extraordinary. He led the league with 127 receptions, 1,708 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns—career highs across the board. Averaging 100.5 yards per game on 175 targets, Chase joined a prestigious group that includes Cooper Kupp, Steve Smith, Sterling Sharpe, Jerry Rice, and Lance Alworth. At just 24 years old, Chase is now the youngest player to claim this honor.

“It says I’m off to a tremendous start,” Chase said on the NFL Network on Saturday when asked about the award. “There’s more to be done, but I’m doing good so far.”

Ja’Marr Chase Makes History in Cincinnati

For the Bengals, Chase’s achievements hold special significance. He’s the first in franchise history to lead the league in all three categories. While he fell just one touchdown shy of breaking Carl Pickens’ single-season franchise record, his dominance was undeniable. Entering the final game of the season, Chase already held commanding leads in receptions and touchdowns over competitors like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Terry McLaurin. Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson trailed him in receiving yards by 133 heading into Week 18.

Chase’s brilliance came amidst challenges. A preseason contract dispute loomed over his return, but he rejoined the Bengals in time for Week 1 without a new long-term deal. His performance this year has undoubtedly set the stage for a groundbreaking payday. With $21.8 million slated for next season under the fifth-year option of his rookie deal, Chase has positioned himself as a candidate to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the league.

Still, the Bengals’ 9-8 finish and second consecutive playoff absence cast a bittersweet shadow. Saturday’s 19-17 win over the Steelers closed their season on a high note, but for Chase, the accolades feel incomplete without team success.

Even so, his 2024 campaign stands as a beacon of excellence, a reminder of what’s possible when skill meets determination. In a year of challenges and change, Ja’Marr Chase didn’t just rise above—he soared, joining the legends of the game while carrying Cincinnati’s hopes on his shoulders.
