Bengals were in on Terrell Edmunds before he re-signed with Steelers

The Cincinnati Bengals apparently almost snatched a free agent from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that 2018 first-round pick Terrell Edmunds re-upped with the Steelers.

And while confirming the move, Fowler reported the Bengals were a team in the mix for Edmunds’ services.

Edmunds, 25, started 60 of 64 games for the Steelers over the first four years of his career and had a lukewarm market after earning a 60.1 PFF grade last season.

That the Bengals were interested isn’t a major surprise, as they have serious depth needs in the secondary. A guy like recently re-signed Tre Flowers or Edmunds, who can match up against tight ends and provide depth at multiple spots, will always be of interest.

Meaning, versatile, bigger guys like Edmunds are still very much on the menu for the Bengals in the upcoming draft.
