The Cincinnati Bengals had plenty of wideouts and offensive linemen of note on the board in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft and decided to go with North Dakota St. offensive lineman Cordell Volson.
Volson, 6’6″ and 315 pounds, projects as a guard at the next level, which is exactly what the Bengals want as they seek out a competition at left guard.
He’ll move into what could be a direct competition with 2021 second-round pick Jackson Carman for the starting gig.
North Dakota State liked Volson enough to shift him over to left tackle after the departure of 2021 second-round pick Dillon Radunz, so rest assured the Bengals love that he’s repped at multiple spots across a line in the past.
This was the team’s first pick of Day 3 after spending the first two days loading up on the defensive side of the ball with two defensive backs and a lineman.
