Bengals RB room flying underrated in new rankings

The Cincinnati Bengals have high hopes for their running back room in 2024 despite the departure of Joe Mixon.

It’s not hard to see why, either. New arrival Zack Moss is more versatile and looked ready to be a workhorse back in place of Jonathan Taylor for the Colts last year. Chase Brown was explosive and had a massive upside as a rookie for the Bengals, too.

Despite this positive slant, though, the Bengals running back room as a whole only ranks 30th in positional unit rankings from Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema:

The Bengals signed Zack Moss this offseason to replace Joe Mixon, who the team traded to the Texans. Moss has recorded steady rushing grades in the 70.0s in each of his four seasons with a healthy yards per carry average right around 4.0.

It feels like the room is a tad underrated based on what Moss was able to do last season — and when projecting that into a Joe Burrow-led offense.

Still, this new-look room was always going to face an uphill battle in terms of outsider perception. The Bengals assembled it for a reason as the offense shifts to more under-center looks, so there’s a good chance the room ranks might higher this time next year.
