Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off during the second practice of training camp Thursday, and the injury turns out to be a strained calf.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported the news, which nearly falls into the best-case scenario category for player and team alike.
Burrow suffered the noncontact injury while isolated from other players and scrambling out of the pocket.
The development could mean Burrow misses a few weeks of action, and it might mean he won’t take a snap in the preseason games.
Right after Burrow was carted off the field, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor met with the media and initially described the setback as a calf issue, although of unknown severity.
After that, Ja’Marr Chase offered an encouraging hint about Burrow’s injury.
