Bengals’ primetime game avoids flex treatment despite 1-3 start

Despite the 1-3 start, the Cincinnati Bengals will remain in the primetime spotlight in Week 6.

Earlier this week, the deadline for the NFL to flex the team’s Week 6 game against the New York Giants out of primetime passed.

That means the Bengals will play in New York on Sunday, Oct. 13 with an 8:20 ET kickoff.

This does come as a little bit of a surprise, considering the Giants are off to a 1-3 start. There are some other marquee matchups on the slate, such as Washington-Baltimore and Detroit-Dallas.

Still, the Giants are an NFC East team in their own right and that division tends to dominate the primetime scene each year. Plus, the Bengals are a pretty big draw these days with Joe Burrow and others.

That said, the Bengals will have to prove they belong on the stage by avoiding entering it at 1-4, which will require overcoming the Ravens in an AFC North battle this weekend.
