Right after the bye week, Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. created a stir on social media briefly because he wasn’t working Monday’s practice.
But Brown and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor followed that up by revealing that Monday was essentially another rest day for the left tackle and that he would still be able to play in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Wednesday, Taylor revealed a little more about the situation, though, as captured by CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia: “He’s probably progressing better than we thought he would last week.”
That says a lot about the seriousness of the groin issue that knocked Brown out of the eventual win over the Seattle Seahawks before the bye.
There, Cody Ford replaced Brown in an emergency situation and would have gotten the start against the 49ers, too.
But from the sounds of it, Brown’s back a little faster than the Bengals might have projected, which is good news going into a game against Nick Bosa and that 49ers defense.
Brown went limited on the first injury report of the week.
