The NFL is releasing the schedule for the upcoming season Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, but the Cincinnati Bengals announced a game that everyone was wondering about.
The Bengals will be in Kansas City in Week 17 to face off against the Chiefs.
Aftab Pureval, the mayor of Cincinnati, got involved in the rivalry when the two teams saw each other in the AFC championship again earlier in 2023, saying the Bengals were heading to “Burrowhead Stadium” and joked that Joe Burrow was asked to confirm if he was Patrick Mahomes’ father.
Of course, the Bengals lost that game and Pureval heard about it from Chiefs fans.
The Bengals Twitter account posted a video to announce the game showing Pureval has learned his lesson — with the help of Orlando Brown Jr., the former Chiefs offensive tackle who signed with the team this offseason.
“The Bengals play the Chiefs Week 17. And I’ve got nothing else to add,” Pureval said.
He seems to be saving the trash talk for New Year’s Eve when the Bengals could earn Pureval his bragging rights back.
