The Cincinnati Bengals had a typically quiet Tuesday ahead of the team’s Week 12 showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Before practice really begins in earnest for that affair, though, we have minor updates on things like jersey combo plans and the reveal that a certain rookie continues to make headway for himself and has probably taken over a starting role from a veteran.
Also notable was the NFL announcing its scheduling changes for Week 13, which many suspected might include the Bengals moving out of primetime in the wake of Joe Burrow’s injury.
Here’s a look at the must-know Bengals news, notes and quotes for November 22.
Jordan Battle ascends -- Bengals Wire
It’s all about Jordan Battle now at safety. The rookie emerged last week after replacing Nick Scott and it’s pretty hard to imagine the team goes back the other way now.
Jersey combo time
The Bengals will bring out one of their better-looking jersey combos for the big divisional clash with the Steelers. They have a great record in the combo, too.
Tee Higgins tops list of free agents

No MNF move
It was easy to think the NFL might move the Bengals off “Monday Night Football” in Week 13 after Burrow’s injury. But while revealing a list of changes, the league revealed that the Bengals will indeed remain in that spot.

Jake Browning on what he's learned from Burrow -- Bengals
Fun comment from new starter Jake Browning about some of what he’s learned from Burrow: “A lot. I’ve spent a lot of time with him in meetings. I think kind of going back to my time with Kirk, I’m never afraid to ask questions. ‘If you don’t feel like answering it, you don’t have to.’ But he always has. ‘Hey, this play call. What made you get to throw this?’ Because I’m always behind him whenever he’s taking reps thinking, ‘Okay, this is where I would throw the ball.’ Sometimes I’m thinking I would have thrown one thing and then he throws it over there. ‘What did you see that made you go over there?’ A lot of the really good quarterbacks I’ve been around, they can always explain what their thought process was and why they did a certain thing. It’s super valuable to be a younger guy or a guy who hasn’t had a ton of reps and be able to ask those questions and get good answers.”
