Bengals news: Joe Burrow’s injury plan, Charlie Jones injury and more

The Cincinnati Bengals have a short week right now in the wake of Monday’s win over the Los Angeles Rams before Sunday’s road game against the Tennessee Titans.

Joe Burrow’s injury, of course, is the biggest headline and will remain as such for the foreseeable future. Just Wednesday, he participated in the team’s walkthrough and then revealed his current plan and hopes for returning to 100 percent health.

Zac Taylor says playing Titans is like an AFC North clash -- Bengals.com

Strong running game and defense with a smashmouth style on both sides? Sounds like AFC North football, which is what Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says playing the Titans is like.

“It feels like playing an AFC North team when you play these guys. I remember first feeling that in the playoffs a couple of years ago against them,” Taylor said. “Their defensive line is really impressive across the board and with the depth. They’ve got guys that impact the quarterback and impact the run game. They’re No. 1 in the league against the run – yards per carry – that shows up on tape.”

Trevor Siemian heads to the Jets -- Bengals.com

Trevor Siemian was with Cincinnati over the summer but lost out on a roster spot. He’s finally found a home with the Jets in the wake of the Aaron Rodgers injury.

“I didn’t expect to answer Jets questions today, but I like Trevor,” Taylor said. “I liked being around him. He’s smart. He’s had experience in this league. Brian had coached him before, he liked him. He impressed us. He was getting better and better every week understanding our offense. I think he’ll do a great job wherever he’s at.” ….

Joe Burrow's injury plan -- Bengals.com

As noted by Zac Taylor and others, Burrow was a full-go during Wednesday’s walkthrough but don’t be surprised if he’s not getting every rep on Thursday and Friday. Burrow himself says he thinks, barring a setback, that he can keep healing the calf issue as the team plays games. That will require fickle in-week management before some good luck during games. But the plan does set up nicely to possibly have him fully 100 percent by after the mid-season bye.
