With the team about to square off in a finale that is more about pride than anything else, most of the Cincinnati Bengals news during the mid-week stretch focused on star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Go figure, given Chase has been at the forefront of the media interviewing cycle ever since quarterback Joe Burrow went down with his season-ending injury.
It doesn’t hurt, of course, that Chase is super upfront about pretty much any question lobbed his way. This time, the highlight was the fact he might be about to play his last game alongside Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, never mind questions about the Bengals giving those guys extensions.
Here’s a look at the must-know Bengals news, notes and quotes for January 5.
Chase on Higgins, Boyd
Chase was raw and unfiltered in his hopes for the team to get his guys extensions to keep this thing going, though also admitted he wouldn’t hold them back from making their own choices. And yes, he wants an extension of his own, too.
Chase will play
Chase got upgraded on the injury report on Thursday and revealed that he will indeed play against the Browns, wanting to not let his guys down despite the injury.
New name on the injury report
Speaking of the injury report, Joe Mixon was a surprise addition to it on Thursday, a DNP due to what the team is calling an illness.
