Veteran defensive back Michael Thomas, now with the Cincinnati Bengals, loved his time with the New York Giants. Both on the field and off, Thomas was a great ambassador for Big Blue.
Thomas has since gone on to play for Houston Texans and, as previously mentioned, is now a member of the Super Bowl-bound Bengals.
Thomas is one of a few former Giants playing in the big game this Sunday, joining Eli Apple, B.J. Hill, Odell Beckham Jr. and others.
While Thomas has been on two teams already since his departure from Big Blue, he has made it clear this week that his heart is still with the Giants.
“Obviously I’m all about the Bengals and happy to help them get to the Super Bowl, and I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, but for one second… Go Big Blue,” Thomas told Tom Rock of Newsday.
Thomas was a captain on for the Giants and is a well-respected veteran around the league.
Thomas made a Pro Bowl with Big Blue in 2018 and because he also excelled off the field, he was nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2018. Thomas continued his work off the field in 2020 when he was nominated for the award as a member of the Texans.
As the saying goes, “Once a Giant, always a Giant.” And Thomas clearly has a big place in his heart for the Giants.
Although Thomas is on his way to compete in the Super Bowl, his attachment to Big Blue has not been lost on him. It’s no secret of the caliber of person that Thomas is and if Giants fans are looking for a reason to root for the Bengals, Thomas may be a good reason why.
