Bengals look great in expert’s win-loss projections for 2023

The Cincinnati Bengals emerge looking pretty good in new win-loss projections from an expert.

NFL.com Cynthia Frelund used historical data and analytics to come up with win-total projections for the entire NFL and the Bengals finished with the second-highest mark at 10.9, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs.

Even while pointing out one of the team’s biggest concerns, the writeup offers silver linings:

Losing not one but two upper-tier safeties in the offseason is never an easy thing for a defense to overcome, but the good news is Cincinnati’s new starters at the position aren’t brand new to the NFL. 2022 first-round pick Dax Hill got a chance to learn behind Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell before they departed this offseason, and Nick Scott was a 16-game starter for the Rams last year. Also, there are a lot of options for defensive back formations with the team’s veteran corners.

These projections tend to land right in line with the general consensus when it comes to the Bengals next year.

Fair, considering Joe Burrow seems right on track to start in Week 1 and he’s ultimately one of the biggest factors in projections like this.
